X1 Works Like You Do, Not the Other Way Around

The X1 desktop search model recognizes the central truth that the traditional KM solution does not: people work in different ways, with various organization skills, they generally seek the shortest way between Point A and Point B, irrespective of the "approved" path; and all Knowledge Workers have too much information and not enough time to find and make sense of it.

X1's Next Generation Customizable Search Interface:
  • Returns entire data set of matching items (not a page at a time)

  • Provides high-fidelity previews of any data item without opening the underlying native application (not a 30 word extract and you don't have to download the item and load the native application to simply view the item)

  • Real-time modification (add, delete, change) of multiple search parameters with instantaneous recalculation of results set (enables users to interact with search results and respond to observations and insights garnered from data)
X1 Frees IT from Expensive KM Maintenance

Because X1's Desktop Search model eliminates the need for locating, organizing, and aggregating data across the enterprise, much of SMB's IT department resources can be freed from the management tasks normally required of KM systems.

Enterprise Client

The X1 Enterprise Client enables employees to find the information that matters most to them as fast as they can type. Files, email messages, attachments and contacts are all indexed locally. Additionally, the Enterprise Client has been enhanced with the following features: • A silent installer speeding desktop deployments • Integration with the X1 Enterprise Server so that server-based data can be quickly searched • Integration with the X1 Enterprise Manager, so that the client can be centrally configured and managed

Browser Client

Not all employees value the ability to search local desktop data due to the nature of their job function or because their IT department prohibits local storage of data. For those users, X1 offers the X1 Browser Client, a web-based application that enables end users to access their critical server-based information as fast as they can type. The browser client delivers the X1 "find as you type" interface, while preserving the dynamic preview capabilities of the Enterprise Client, but only requires an Internet Explorer browser to operate.

Enterprise Manager

The X1 Enterprise Manager is used by the system administrator to configure X1 with the appropriate settings for their environment. Using the manager, individual features can be turned off and removed from the interface, grayed out and left in the interface, or pre-configured with default settings.

Enterprise Server

In organizations where large quantities of data is installed on network file servers, indexing that data repeatedly on each client can be wasteful from a network bandwidth and storage perspective. The X1 Enterprise Server solves this problem by acting as a central scanning engine for network data sources, which enables users to search for network data from both Enterprise and Browser Clients.

Content Connectors

What good is fast search without access to the critical enterprise information? X1 Enterprise Edition includes a series of Content Connectors for providing access to email, attachments, files and contacts.

Content Connector for Files

The files stored on a user's local file system and network file servers are all indexed and searchable using the X1 Content Connector for Files. Using this connector X1 users are able to search 370 different file formats, not just the file name, but the contents of those files.

Content Connector for Microsoft Exchange and Outlook

Organizations who have invested in a Microsoft Exchange/Outlook email infrastructure can deploy the X1 Content Connector for Microsoft Exchange and Outlook. This content connector uses the native Microsoft API, MAPI, to extract email messages, attachments and contacts from both locally cached and server-hosted Exchange systems. In addition to extracting data from Exchange, the X1 Exchange content connector also can interact directly with the Outlook desktop application (email messages can be opened, replied to, forwarded, etc.).
